praying
it doesn't have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch
a few words together and don't try
to make them elaborate, this isn't
a contest but the doorway
into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

soaking beans overnight gives me this moment,
this steeping in gratitude that holds an inexplainable self-caring,
a nourishing, it's something that is taking priority over the noise
& delicately interrupts, in the most gentle way, my life.
it is a type of praying for me.
it also makes a really good soup.
see you in the kitchenxxx
beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteJules, Help ? Do you have a good eggplant recipe? I love them but never cook them well. Can I bread them and fry them like a green tomato? I seasoned them sliced and baked them tonight and they were a mush. Bleh.... Thank you.
ReplyDeletep.s. What kind of soup are you soaking the beans for ? Love, Wiloe
"You need to pray just to make it today" Is that how that old rap goes? Only you could inspire me dear Jules to consider soaking beans. I have ruined many a pot, and dinner, in my attempts to soak beans. Even poisoned Ronnie, but that is another story. OK, I'm going to attempt again, only this time set the tone as a spiritually sacred ritual of engaging the beans to reveal their tender selves...I'll keep you posted luv. xxoo Alisa
